Packing...

We are sorting, purging and packing. All of our shelves and closets are slowly emptying out and I keep wondering why and how we managed to gather so much stuff. Getting rid of what we don't need or want by selling it takes time and I have the feeling this activity will become somewhat frantic toward the end. Our children and other family members are getting some things, and we have sold some through Craig's list or have donated them to various organizations. It's amazing how much stuff can accumulate in a household and you don't even realize it until it's time to get rid of it all....

The cost to move everything is prohibitive - it generally costs more to move stuff long distances between countries than it does to buy new at the other end. We are arranging for a bit of storage for our few "must keep" personal effects. In the meantime, we will find furnished places to rent until Cyndi gives us the official nod.

As we pack, we are photographing each of the items, preparing a detailed list, and are mindful that they will have to be translated (perhaps to Spanish) along with model numbers, serial numbers and estimated values. I am actually dreading the arrangements that will eventually be needed for moving / shipping our few personal effects once we make a final decision as to where to live. I guess we will cross that path later. Ugghh.

We are getting ready for a short trip to visit friends and family in Calgary and are gathering a few things that we can take and leave there. Every bit helps to clear out the house. :-)
